Brighton-based psych-jazz four-piece plantoid have had a fantastic year, defined by their signing to Bella Union in August. They first turned heads at TMR with their grating single, ‘Dog’s Life’, which acted as a musical mood swing inspired by lead singer Chloe Spence’s dog Poppy. Their sound is simultaneously hazy and frantic, with uniquely jagged and rhythmic guitar lines clashing with a spacey lead vocal; a mesmerising blend of light and dark. The band are hoping to drop their debut album in 2024, with the influences of post-rock and prog blending into their luscious jazz-laced psychedelic soundscapes, propelled by their innovative, diverse musicianship. -Dan Peeke
